Dreamcatcher is a seven-member girl group based in Seoul, Korea. The group debuted in January 2017 under the Dreamcatcher Company, formerly named Happyface Entertainment. When the group debuted, Dreamcatcher was highly regarded for their unique concept of infusing hard rock music with pop. Under their former name Minx, the group debuted with the single “Why Did You Come to My Home” in 2014. But due to a change in the line-up, they re-debuted under the new name Dream Catcher with two additional members. Dreamcatcher’s current line-up now comprises Jiu, SuA, Sieyon, Yoohyeon, Dami, Gahyeon, and Handong.
With their unique musical style, which Rolling Stone India calls “the Face of Rock in K-pop,” Dreamcatcher quickly stood out among the groups who debuted in the same year. In 2017, they released their debut single, “Chase Me,” and was met with wide critical acclaim. The group quickly rose in rank. A few months after releasing their debut single, Dreamcatcher dropped their debut EP, Prequel, which entered and peaked at number 5 on the Billboard World Albums chart. The following year, the group embarked on the Fly High World Tour, in which all tickets sold out in under a minute upon opening of sales.
Both Dreamcatcher’s studio albums, Dystopia: The Tree of Language (2020) and Apocalypse: Save Us (2022), entered the top 5 on the Korean charts. Meanwhile, their singles were well-received by fans. In 2023, the group released their latest single, “Reason,” which is expected to be featured in their upcoming album.
