Born and bred in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Santigold has taken her music to new heights. The indie fusionist who mixes a wide range of influences, such as electronica, rock, hip-hop, new wave, and reggae, has captured millions of listeners' attention. Her debut album, Santogold, released in 2008, was ahead of its time. Rolling Stone called Santogold “a visionary album,” while NME mentioned that the gold-certified album “reveals a glittery crazy-paved path towards a brave new musical future.” Santogold performed moderately well on the charts, peaking at number 74 on the Billboard 200 and entering the top 10 of the Electronica and Top Independent Albums charts. The album spawned two hit singles, “Creator” and “L.E.S. Artistes.” It later won Best Breakthrough Artist at the NME Awards and earned the Vanguard Award at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards.

Santigold’s sophomore release, Master of My Make-Believe, gave her a worldwide breakthrough when the album charted in over ten countries, including the U.S. On the Billboard chart, the album placed at number 21 on the Billboard 200, while it topped the Electronic/Dance Albums charts. Moreover, the album also performed well on the Top Alternative and Top Rock Albums charts when it peaked at numbers 5 and 8. Master of My Make-Believe was preceded by the hit single, “Disparate Youth,” later used in several major films and TV series.
