There is not use dissecting the sound of The Motet and trying to classify them in a specific genre.  They are improv and sound layering wizards who are always out to defy genre classifications and outdo themselves.  The Motet uphold their motto of “resolve to evolve”.  They just keep pushing the sonic envelope further.  One moment, if you think you’re hearing Jazz, Afrobeat, Funk, Salsa and Samba — you’re right!  Or the next,  if you think you’re hearing house and techno elements, you’re right too!  Now listen to your body.  If you’re getting the urge and the invigorating sensation to dance like there’s no tomorrow, then you’re in the right place!   The keyword is:  surrender.

The Motets have been around since 1998, founded and led by drummer Dave Watts.  With Watt’s vision and artistry, he has assembled his pack of musicians which include — keyboardist Joey Porter, saxophonist Dominic Lalli , percussionist Scott Messersmith, percussionist/vocalist Jans Ingebar, guitarist Mike Tiernen, bassist Kurt Reeber, and organist/keyboardist Steve Vidiac.
