The Beaches are one of those bands that seem to have exploded out of nowhere — but in reality, their rise has been years in the making. Coming from Toronto, the all-female rock group is made up of sisters Jordan and Kylie Miller, plus their longtime friends Leandra Earl and Eliza Enman-McDaniel. They originally played together as teenagers under the name Done With Dolls, but eventually rebranded as The Beaches (named after their east-end Toronto neighborhood) and started carving out a distinct, gritty, guitar-driven sound that blends punk attitude with pop hooks.
Their big break came when they signed with Island Records and dropped their debut album Late Show in 2017. Produced by Emily Haines and James Shaw of Metric, the record gave off serious “cool-girl energy”, slick, stylish, and full of catchy angst. Songs like “Money” and “T-Shirt” stood out, balancing raw lyrics with irresistible melodies. That album helped them gain serious momentum in the Canadian rock scene and beyond, even earning them a Juno Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year in 2018.
But it wasn’t until their 2022 track “Blame Brett” that things really took off. The song is a brutally honest breakup hit, became an instant fan favorite, especially with its cheeky, relatable lyrics and sing-along chorus. It resonated hard, especially on TikTok, where it took on a life of its own and brought in a wave of new fans. Suddenly, The Beaches weren’t just a Canadian secret, they were playing sold-out shows all over.
What makes The Beaches stand out is that they’ve managed to keep it real while leveling up. Their music is full of sharp lyrics, but it still feels deeply personal. Whether they’re belting out heartbreak, empowerment, or late-night chaos, they make you feel like you’re right there with them. From indie underdogs to chart-toppers, The Beaches are proof that good, loud, honest rock still hits the spot and they’re just getting started. Hit that "buy tickets now" button and get ready for a night of epic music.
